WINE ENTHUSIAST 2019
A blend of several parcels, this bottling provides a snapshot of this famous premier cru. The wine has succulence as well as opulent potential. It is rich but shot through with acidity, minerality and fresh fruitiness.
INSIDE BURGUNDY JASPER MORRIS 2019
From 3 plots, not in the upper part. This has a touch of green which Sous le Dos d’Âne did not. Lively lemon acidity, just above medium bodied with a little heaviness at the finish. There is power at the back. The component parts all seem to be there, but not quite knit together at the moment.
Once again there is a whiff of the exotic to the white peach, passion fruit, mandarin orange and softly oak-scented nose. The delicious and vibrant flavors possess an appealing mouth feel though not quite the same mid-palate concentration on the more refined, indeed even sophisticated finish. Lovely stuff and very Charmes.
BURGUNDY REPORT BILL NANSEN 2018
Fuller wider but not more aromatic volume – tighter. A little gas, some spice here – not just Meursault spice, also barrel but très modest. Layers of sufficiently fresh flavour, this is more contemplative than many, but such a delicious panorama of fine flavour – pure Meursault flavour.
